The 9-Day African Big Five Safari is an incredible journey through some of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. This safari is designed for travelers who want to experience the beauty of Africa while searching for the famous Big Five animals — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino.
During this unforgettable adventure, you will explore the diverse landscapes of northern Tanzania, including the elephant paradise of Tarangire National Park, the unique volcanic scenery of Lake Natron, the wildlife-rich plains of Serengeti National Park, the famous Kogatende region in northern Serengeti, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater.
This safari combines thrilling game drives, stunning landscapes, cultural encounters, and incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha
Your African Big Five Safari begins upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Upon arrival, you will meet your professional safari guide and transfer to your hotel in Arusha.
You will have time to relax and prepare for the safari adventure ahead.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Arusha
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful wildlife parks.
Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. During the game drive you may see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and many other animals.
After the safari, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tarangire – Lake Natron
After breakfast, you will travel toward Lake Natron, located in the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley.
Lake Natron is known for its unique scenery, flamingos, and views of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred mountain of the Maasai people. In the afternoon, you may enjoy a walk to the nearby waterfalls or explore the surrounding landscapes.

Day 4: Lake Natron Exploration
Today you will spend a full day exploring the beautiful Lake Natron area.
You may visit the lake to see flamingos, explore the surrounding volcanic landscapes, or enjoy a guided walk to waterfalls located near the village.

Accommodation: Lodge near Lake Natron
Day 5: Lake Natron – Kogatende (Northern Serengeti)
After breakfast, you will travel to the Kogatende region in Northern Serengeti.
This area is famous for incredible wildlife sightings and is one of the best places to witness the Great Migration river crossings depending on the season. Enjoy a game drive as you arrive in the area.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Camp in Kogatende
Day 6: Kogatende – Central Serengeti
After breakfast, you will enjoy a morning game drive in Northern Serengeti before continuing your journey toward Central Serengeti.
The central Serengeti is known for its abundant wildlife and is one of the best areas to see predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Lodge or camp in Central Serengeti
Day 7: Full Day in Central Serengeti
Today you will enjoy a full day of wildlife safari in Central Serengeti.
The vast plains of Serengeti offer excellent opportunities to see large herds of wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and many predators.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Lodge or camp in Central Serengeti
Day 8: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Overnight in Karatu
After breakfast, you will depart from Serengeti National Park and travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
You will descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in Africa. The crater is home to lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhino.
After the game drive and picnic lunch inside the crater, you will drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation: Lodge in Karatu
Day 9: Karatu – Arusha / Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, you will drive back to Arusha or transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) depending on your flight schedule.
This marks the end of your unforgettable 9-Day African Big Five Safari.
