The Ngorongoro Crater Day Trip Safari is a perfect short adventure for travelers who want to experience one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations in just one day. Located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a high concentration of wildlife in a compact area.
This day trip takes you from Arusha to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, where you will enjoy a full-day game drive surrounded by stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. It is one of the best places in Tanzania to see the African Big Five, including the rare black rhino.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
Your day begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). You will drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying scenic views of the highlands along the way.
Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The crater floor is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and flamingos. With luck, you may also spot the rare black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater, surrounded by nature and incredible scenery. After lunch, continue your game drive before ascending the crater walls in the afternoon.
You will then drive back to Arusha, arriving in the evening, marking the end of your unforgettable Ngorongoro Crater Day Trip Safari.
