The Short Tanzania Safari: Kilimanjaro & Ngorongoro is a perfect 2-day adventure designed for travelers who want to experience both the beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro and the incredible wildlife of Ngorongoro Crater in a short time.
This unique safari combines a Mount Kilimanjaro day hike via the Marangu Route with an unforgettable Ngorongoro Crater safari, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in Africa. On the first day, you will explore the lush rainforest of Mount Kilimanjaro and hike to Mandara Hut, enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Africa’s highest mountain.
On the second day, you will travel to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, and the rare black rhino.
This short but exciting journey offers the perfect combination of nature, adventure, and wildlife, making it ideal for travelers with limited time who still want to experience two of Tanzania’s most iconic destinations.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Mount Kilimanjaro Day Trip (Marangu Route)
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a drive from Arusha to the Marangu Gate, the main entrance of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.
After completing the park registration process, you will begin your guided hike along the Marangu Route, one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. The trail passes through a lush tropical rainforest, home to unique plants, birds, and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
After several hours of hiking, you will reach Mandara Hut (2,700 meters / 8,858 feet). Here you will enjoy your packed lunch and relax while surrounded by the peaceful mountain environment.
If time allows, you may take a short walk to Maundi Crater, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes.
After the hike, you will descend back to Marangu Gate and drive back to your lodge in Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
Early in the morning, you will depart from Arusha and travel toward the world-famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Upon arrival, you will descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most remarkable wildlife destinations in Africa. The crater is home to a large population of animals including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhino.
You will enjoy an exciting game drive inside the crater and stop for a picnic lunch surrounded by incredible scenery and wildlife.
In the afternoon, you will ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha, marking the end of your memorable Short Tanzania Safari: Kilimanjaro & Ngorongoro.
